My future plans for this blog really aren’t much different that my past plans, except that I intend to actually post my projects after I finish them as well as some in-progress pictures. This will serve as a record of my progress and of all of my finished projects. Due to this change, I expect that I will be making more regular posts (by more regular, I do simply mean more than one or two a year).
Now that I got that little tid-bit of not-quite-news is out of the way… I’m excited to announce that I will soon be finishing a very neat project and starting a new knit-along. Technically this new knit-along will only include me and my only current reader, Sra, but if anyone else happens upon this blog they should feel welcome to knit-along as well and share their progress too. The new knit-along is going to be the Spring/Summer Shawl and Fall/Winter Shawl from knitpicks.com. It will begin as soon as I receive my order of the kits from KnitPicks, but only after I have finished my current project and after Sra and I have decided which of us will be doing which shawl (they’re both so beautiful!). An approximate starting date for this knit-along might be during the last week of July or the first week of August.
That means that I have to have my current project—knitty.com’s Inamorata—completely done by the end of this month! Although not completely impossible, it will be quite difficult for me to accomplish this in its entirety. Don’t get me wrong, I have no doubt that I’ll be done knitting the cute top by then; it’s simply the finishing work that worries me. There isn’t too much finishing work to do though, so I might be okay. I just took some pictures of what I have done so far. The colors in the pictures are a bit off, but even with the real-life colors I’m not sure if it works. I’m going with it anyway. I think I like the colors, I’m just not sure anyone else will.
This is the best close-up detail picture that my camera and my photography skill (or lack thereof) can handle. The above detail shows the cable pattern on the chest section of the top.
This detail shows the lace-like body of the shirt. I'm not sure if it actually counts as lace. Wow, the flash on my camera really screws with the colors. That bottom section that looks white in this picture is really light green.
This is the front center part of the chest. This is where the most finishing work is. I have to find buttons for this part. I really had hoped that the purple would last until the end of the cable section, but I suppose it doesn't look too awful switching colors during the cable pattern, does it?
This is just another picture of the shirt (though this one is oriented the correct way. For some reason that first picture wouldn't turn. I still have quite a bit to go to make the shirt long enough for my liking. I only hope that I'll have enough yarn. I may have to add one more ball of this type to my order on knitpicks.
Fanfiction note: I’ve banned myself from fanfictions until I’ve finished all of my homework that’s due this Sunday, but I did so whilst in the middle of a story. So, now it’s haunting me, but I will refrain from making any more comments about it so as to not tease myself further.
On a completely different note: my brother just asked me what my typing speed was so I took a test online to check. Apparently I’m only slightly above average at about 51 wpm. He laughed and said he was around 70 or so. :P to him. I am slightly surprised though. I’ve always considered myself quite a fast typist. It’s possible that I’m slower when I have to type something that someone else has given me to copy than when I just type off the top of my head (much like I’m doing right now). Also, I think I’ve gotten a bit lazy as I’m quite used to Microsoft Word fixing some of my more common typos like typing “t e h” instead of “t h e”. See, I even had to space the letters out because when I spelled “the” wrong it just fixed it for me! I did have a 99% accuracy on the typing test though. Oh, just in case anyone’s interested, I took the test at typingtest.com.
